Writing a Thesis Statement

Today we discussed homework and completed notes on organization.  We did some class work on creating clusters and outlines.
There was a handout on audience, purpose, and tone and we read some articles and discussed those as a class.
Homework for Wednesday is to complete one worksheet, read pages 15-31 and complete the following assignments: Excercise 1.1 and Excercise 1.5.

I have attached the power point that we took notes over today and the handout that was given on audience, purpose and tone as well as the articles discussed in class.  If you were not in class today you will not be able to make up the class assignment, but make sure to complete the homework assigned and bring it to class on Wednesday.
You have two journals due on Wednesday (your diagnostic essay was considered a journal for this week).

Thanks for the great discussion today!

Prewriting Notes

During the first day of class we discussed some note taking tactics and went over a power point on the topic.  The class also took a diagnostic test to help me decide what we should focus on learning during the next eight weeks.  We went also went over the syllabus and discussed the journal requirement for this course.  The handouts are attached to this post.  Please post any questions about the class that you may have and I will discuss them in class on Wednesday or respond to the blog.
